Located just 5 miles west of Black Mountain, and 10 miles east of Asheville, North Carolina, High Hickory is a 430 acre watershed bordered on three sides by the ridge-tops of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Residents here will be able to explore this gorgeous massive natural area through the intricate, well-maintained trails that criss-cross the property. You’ll see long range mountain vistas, peaceful, flowing river bends, and brilliant red and gold forests. High Hickory offers a variety of community gardens, as well as shared outdoor gathering spaces where residents can relax and take in the mountain beauty surrounding their property. Strategically planned with the environment in mind, High Hickory is a low density, low impact community here to protect and celebrate the spectacular natural features of the land.

Amenities

The Nature Preserve – Over 150 acres of pristine upland forest have been preserved for the exclusive use of High Hickory owners. This expansive conservancy boasts towering hardwoods, lush rhododendron thickets, tumbling mountain streams and an extensive trail system ideal for hiking and biking. High Hickory is a dog friendly community and The Nature Preserve is an ideal location to exhaust your four-legged friends while exploring the miles and miles of groomed trails.

Ripple Falls Park – A winding trail leads residents up High Hickory Creek, across a wooden foot bridge to Ripple Falls. A secluded seating area is the perfect location to curl up with a book while enjoying the hypnotic sounds of the babbling creek and the 25′ tall waterfall.

Community Gardens – These elevated, raised garden beds have been crafted from timbers milled on and from the property. The gardens will be planted with beautiful native wildflowers and produce for residents to enjoy.

Bee Village – A collection of aesthetically pleasing hives will house the community honey bees. The Apiary will be managed by a local bee keeper who will help to educate residents about the benefits of the bees and how to manage and maintain their own hives if they choose to do so.

The Lookout at High Hickory Knob – Located at over 4,000 feet in elevation, The Lookout provides expansive, panoramic views of the Craggy Mountains and the Swannanoa Valley. This viewing platform will be the ideal destination for a vigorous afternoon hike, rewarding participants with a magnificent view.
